British Defense Secretary: Putin is trapped in a cage he built… It’s not like it used to be”

Britain’s defense minister said Russian President Vladimir Putin was trapped in a cage he had built, as Russia struggles unexpectedly in its invasion of Ukraine.

British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said in an interview with Sky News on the 31st (local time) that “President Putin is not the same as he used to be.”

“President Putin’s power is different from before,” Wallace said.

“Russian troops were exhausted, and President Putin suffered serious losses. “President Putin has come to live not only in Ukraine, but also in the consequences of what he has done to his own military,” he said.

Wallace said Russia appears to be realigning its forces and moving them to eastern and southern Ukraine, after Russia announced plans to cut troops from the Ukrainian capital Kiiu and northern Chernivu.

“There will be many more civilian areas and attacks on civilians,” he said.

The Chief of Staff of the British Army also said that Putin had already been defeated in many ways.

According to the BBC, British Defense Chief Tony Radakin reconfirmed the analysis of Western authorities, including the United States, in a Q&A speech at a government think tank on the same day, saying, “I believe that President Putin is being misled about the effectiveness of the Russian military.”

“In many ways, Putin has already been defeated,” Radakin said.

Earlier, U.S. President Joe Biden also said in a speech on the same day that Putin appeared to have isolated himself, and evaluated that there were some circumstances in which some of his staff were fired or placed under house arrest.
