The victim was walking his dog on Friday evening on ‘t Zand, the largest square in Bruges. After a verbal exchange with a group of young people, one of them, a minor, hit the 50-year-old who fell with his head on the ground.

According to the Bruges police, the man was taken to the emergency room in critical condition.

The alleged perpetrator was arrested. The Bruges public prosecutor’s office will have to determine, after a hearing, whether to refer him to the juvenile judge.
