Last May, the current head of the FIU, Paul Gomezreported that the governor and prosecutor of Puebla leaked an investigation against deputy Ignacio Mier for money laundering, operations with resources of illicit origin and tax evasion.

Mier Velazco demanded that the authority carry out an investigation in accordance with the law and respecting due process.

“I firmly ask the Attorney General of the Republic to carry out the investigations in accordance with the law, taking care of secrecy and due process, to avoid false narratives as they did against me and that motivated the Financial Intelligence Unit to issue a strong expulsion to the Puebla State Prosecutor’s Office for falsifying information,” he declared.
