We’ll call him Karim, it’s a borrowed first name. This man is the taxi driver in which the three Swedish supporters were targeted by Abdesalem Lassoued on Monday October 16. Around 7 p.m., he was driving in the center of Brussels when he heard an unusual impact in his body. A few seconds later, he sees the shooter in a fluorescent jacket. Today, for the first time, he returns to this evening of horror.

That evening, Karim goes to pick up customers on Boulevard Anspach, in the center of Brussels. These are the three Swedish supporters. He remembers : “They were wearing the Swedish team jersey and scarf. We talked about football. As with all my clients, I try to talk with them so that they feel comfortable”.

After 8 minutes of travel, the taxi driver heard an impact in his right rear window. He stops. In his rearview mirror, he sees a man in an orange jacket with a gun in his hand. It restarts as quickly as possible: “I fled. The man in the fluorescent jacket followed me with his scooter. He shot into my car, he shot everywhere.” After these first shots, Karim remembers the silence that reigned in his taxi.

Somehow, he manages to call the police. At the same time, he thinks he is going to die: “I tell myself that it’s over for me, that this will be my last day. The shooter was next to my car. He didn’t shoot once or twice, he fired bullets and bullets.”
