Geneva: The United Nations General Assembly has called for action against Russia over the Bucha massacre near the Ukrainian capital, Kiev. Russia has been suspended from the Human Rights Council, the international news agency AFP reported.

Ukraine has thanked the United Nations for its action, saying “war criminals have no place in the UN body, which aims to protect human rights.” Ukraine says more than 300 civilians have been killed in Bucha. There were scenes of dead bodies scattered in the streets.

The bodies of the victims of the Bucha massacre were found lying handcuffed, and many of them were tortured, including women and children. The world community, including India, which has so far remained neutral in the Russia-Ukraine war, has strongly condemned the massacre.

However, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was not responsible for the killings. Putin accused Ukraine of making uncivilized moves.
