The 2024 federal budget will be available in an open data-optimized form on data.gv.at from Monday. The aim is to promote transparency and citizen participation in Austria. “This means that the entire federal budget is available to everyone in an easily accessible and processable form,” Finance Minister Magnus Brunner (ÖVP) was quoted as saying in a press release.
The published files represent the directory of all budgeted accounts. The additional complete files allow a detailed overview of all budgeted accounts, including and excluding the personnel offices and cash flows. Delivered in CSV (Comma-Separated Values) format, it allows for easy integration and analysis in most data processing tools and software applications. This optimization makes data easier to extract, analyze and visualize.
The decision to make the 2024 federal budget available in a form optimized for open data is part of a long-term transparency offensive by the Ministry of Finance. In the next step, the recently published preliminary financial performance for 2023 will also be made available on data.gv.at.
