Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said he would monitor the homecoming flow as well as review accidents that occurred at kilometer (KM) 58 + 600 towards Jakarta on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road. The accident involving 3 vehicles, namely the Daihatsu GrandMax, Daihatsu Terios and Big Bus, occurred Monday, (8/4) at 07.04 WIB.
“This afternoon I will go there with the National Police Chief (Listyo Sigit Prabowo),” said Budi at Pasar Senen Station, Jakarta, Monday (8/4).
The Minister of Transportation admitted that he had not received detailed reports regarding the accident. However, according to him, there is a factor of disobedience from toll users. According to him, accidents are usually caused by fatigue.
“I believe that Kakorlantas as the commander of the ketupat operation carried out its duties well. When we planned, even one way, contra flow and so on were carried out well,” he said.
PT Jasa Margate has coordinated with the Police in handling and evacuating this incident. Vehicle traffic conditions on the Japek Toll Road towards Cikampek were congested ahead of the incident location. Officers continue to try to carry out the lane normalization process. Temporarily, the Contraflow lanes KM 48 to KM 70 towards Cikampek, the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, are closed at the discretion of the Police.
Budi Karya expressed his concern about the accident. People are expected to be disciplined in driving during the Eid homecoming journey.

“I am sure that if there is an accident, it will be unfortunate, but it will actually be a lesson for us and we can expose the public if we are not disciplined, that is the risk. I am also concerned about the accident,” said the Minister of Transportation.
The government has attempted to carry out homecoming management that is free from accidents (zero accidents). However, Budi admitted that it was not an easy matter. Especially with the number of homecoming travelers this year reaching 193 million people.
“It is not easy to control in detail even in Sumatra and other places,” he stressed. (Z-11)
