Ensuring the future of the sports infrastructures of Ponts-de-Martel. This is the objective of the Bugnon 2024 project, presented this Wednesday to the press. It plans to build a restaurant on the south side of the Bugnon ice rink and two tennis and padel courts. The Ponts-de-Martel Sports Union (USP) is leading this project, which owns the ice rink which is located in the Bugnon multipurpose center, itself in co-ownership with the municipality. The budget for this modification and expansion is estimated at 2,484,000 francs. It will further improve the attractiveness of the multipurpose center, but also ensure the future of the Ponts-de-Martel sports infrastructure.

Currently, and this is unprecedented in Switzerland, the management of the Bugnon ice rink is based on the volunteer model. But it is becoming more and more complicated to find volunteers and coordinate it, explains Julie Matthey. The new restaurant will therefore involve professionalization of this staff. In addition, the arrival of two tennis courts will allow the establishment to be open throughout the year, and not only during the opening of the ice rink as is currently the case, specifies the member. of the finance and communication commission of the Bugnon 2024 project.

To find out if there was demand for tennis and padel, the USP carried out a survey of the population, which revealed great enthusiasm for racket sports. This will also make it possible to relaunch the activity of the village tennis club, which was put on hold due to a lack of infrastructure.

A high budget and a search for funds launched

The budget for this Bugnon 2024 project amounts to nearly 2.5 million francs. A sum that the USP wishes to achieve thanks to its own financing, bank loans, the help of various foundations, public financing from neighboring municipalities (in addition to that of Ponts-de-Martel), but also thanks to donors . The Sports Union relies on companies and private individuals. They can make donations since this Wednesday on the project website.

USP says its finances can support these expenses and bank loans. For the future, the Ponts-de-Martel Sports Union is awaiting the building permit for the restaurant for work to begin in May. Construction of the tennis and padel courts should start a little later. The hope is that the restaurant can open next winter and the tennis court in summer 2025. /lgn
