Marcis*’s Instagram account is full of videos of festivals, extreme sports, cooking in the great outdoors and his travels around the world. The Latvian videographer and influencer has, for example, filmed a hip-hop dancer in Miami (USA), London parties or breathtaking Asian landscapes. Last September, he was in Switzerland. And, with an English friend, domiciled in the United States, he had a funny idea.

One evening, shortly after midnight, while driving a rental car, he crossed the double continuous line of the Bulle bypass road, before parking in one of the security niches of the tunnel of the Treme. The 40-year-old got out of the vehicle and started dancing in the middle of the traffic lanes while the Latvian filmed her. The latter finally put the camera on the roof of the car and also began to dance.

Barriers lowered

What the duo didn’t seem to know was that the tunnel in question is equipped with a surveillance system, which has de facto paralyzed traffic, in both directions. “The Trême and Montcalia tunnels are equipped with cameras. Systems effectively make it possible to detect the presence of pedestrians or the stopping of a vehicle. When alarms go back to our central, the operator activates all the visual systems (red lights) and mobile infrastructures (barriers) in order to guarantee the safety of all users, ”explains the cantonal police of Fribourg.

The Latvian has just been sentenced to a 50-day fine (at 30 francs), suspended for two years, and a fine of 675 francs, for obstructing public traffic. As for his English companion, she was fined 30 days (90 francs), and 700 francs fine, for the same offense. Surprisingly, no image of this trip to Switzerland is visible on Marcis’ Instagram account.
