Bumgarner shines in 6 innings; Diamondbacks steamroll

Madison Bumgarner pitched six solid innings, Josh Rojas had three RBIs and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Colorado Rockies 9-2 on Saturday.

Bumgarner (5-8) gave up Kris Bryant’s third home run in two games in the first inning. However, he looked in tune after that.

He allowed two runs on six hits and struck out five to pass Catfish Hunter (84th) and Dan Haren (83rd) on the list of the most strikeout pitchers in history, reaching 2,014.

Jordan Luplow had an RBI single during Arizona’s three-run first inning off Kyle Freeland (4-7). He added a solo home run in the fifth.

Rojas had a two-run double in the seventh inning and another RBI in the eighth for three of Arizona’s 12 hits. Geraldo Perdomo added a two-run single.

For the Rockies, the Venezuelans Yonathan Daza 4-1, Elías Díaz 3-0. Dominican Elehuris Montero 4-1.

For the Diamondbacks, the Dominicans Ketel Marte 3-0 with a run scored, Perdomo 3-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
