Look for the monkeypox patient who escaped from the isolation center

The patient, the first confirmed case of monkeypox in Jamaica, escaped from the health facility where he was in isolation awaiting recovery.

It is reported that on a sick Saturday afternoon – who presented to the public health system on July 5, arrived in Jamaica about five days earlier from the UK – left through the facility’s bathroom window and waited for a car. The police have been called and are investigating.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the police immediately.

“Monkeypox is a viral disease that can be transmitted from person to person. The Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. here. Christopher Tufton.

Symptoms of monkeypox include fever, severe headache, swollen lymph nodes, back pain, muscle aches, lack of energy, and/or skin rash. Person-to-person transmission occurs through:

  • direct contact with skin lesions or monkeypox scabs;
    • contact with clothing or linens (such as bedding or towels) that an infected person has used; And the
    • A person with a monkeypox rash coughs or sneezes.

The virus enters the body through damaged skin (even if it is not visible), the respiratory tract or the mucous membranes (eyes, nose or mouth). The incubation period varies from 5 to 21 days.

Members of the public suffering from fever, severe headache, muscle aches and/or rashes should self-isolate immediately and contact their health center or doctor prior to a visit. All members of the public should wear a mask, wash their hands frequently and practice physical distancing, as part of infection prevention and control efforts.
