The number is higher than the previous highest number of 9,218 the previous day.
As there is still time left until midnight, the number of confirmed cases to be announced on the 27th is expected to record an all-time high again.
There were about 7,849 new confirmed cases in the metropolitan area and about 4,561 in non-metropolitan areas.
The tentatively counted confirmed cases by province and province were Seoul 2960, Gyeonggi 3900, Incheon 989, Daegu 773, Busan 720, Chungnam 518, Gyeongbuk 489, Daejeon 414, Gwangju 342, Jeonnam 294, Jeonbuk 285 , Gangwon 189, Gyeongnam 150, Ulsan 142, Chungbuk 112, Sejong 78, and Jeju 55.

The government expects that there may be more than 30,000 confirmed cases within the next month, and will begin a full-scale conversion of the ‘Omicron’ response system by expanding rapid antigen testing nationwide from the 29th.
