Calgary Flames president of hockey operations Don Maloney said defenseman Olver Kylington will be back with the team next season.

“He’s feeling great…I’m glad he’s back next year,” Maloney said at a news conference.

Kylington hasn’t played for the Flames this season, having left the team’s entourage for personal reasons.

The Stockholm, Sweden native has appeared in 73 games in 2021-22, collecting nine goals and 31 points. His highest point total before this season was eight.

Selected in the second round by the Flames in the 2015 draft, Kylington has 47 points in 168 games since the start of his career.

Fasching remains on Long Island

Days after being eliminated in the first round of playoffs, the New York Islanders rewarded forward Hudson Fasching with a new two-year contract.

Fasching will receive $775,000 in each of the next two campaigns. His deal is only one-way.

Former 4th round pick of the Los Angeles Kings in 2013, Fasching mainly rolled his ball in the minor ranks before making his way to the bottom of the formation of the Isles.

The 27-year-old American right-hander has 10 goals and nine assists in 49 games in 2022-23, after tallying 11 points in 18 games with New York’s AHL stud club Bridgeport.

Previously, Fasching’s most games played in the Bettman League in a single season was 11 (with the Arizona Coyotes, in 2022-2023).
