A man faces a string of charges after being found with serious gunshot wounds in a Calgary home, where police also found guns and drugs.
Calgary police explained on Monday that they responded around 7:45 p.m. on November 18 to a residence after receiving reports of shots fired. Upon arriving on scene, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
After inspecting the home, police seized firearms, body armor, ammunition and drugs, totaling approximately $293,460.
Following the search, Omar El Gad, 27, faces several charges related to firearms possession, including reckless use of a firearm.
Mr. El Gad also faces charges relating to possession of substances intended for trafficking and possession of bulletproof vests without a license.
The circumstances in which the man was shot remain unclear and have not been specified by the police.
The accused was heard in court on Monday, and no suspects are currently in custody.
