The director of the UAZ Academic Unit, Rosa Martha Covarrubias, presented her second work report and recognized insufficient places and clinical fields for students

As mandated by the Organic Law of the institution, today the director of the Academic Unit of Human Medicine and Health Sciences, Rosa Martha Covarrubias Carrillo, appeared before the rector Rubén de Jesús Ibarra Reyes and the university community when giving know your 2nd. Work Report.

In the “Andreas Vesalius” Sala Magna, and in the presence of the H. Unit Council members, central administration officials, former directors of the unit, teachers, administrative staff and students.

He indicated that the unit’s enrollment is 2,361 students, with a predominance of females in both undergraduate and medical specialties.

Undergraduate students, he explained, are in different health institutions in the state and outside it, due to the number of places and clinical fields, which are not enough, so they have to go to other states. In the class of 2023, 50 students stayed thanks to a scholarship given jointly with the Rector’s Office.

Covarrubias Carrillo explained that there has been a significant increase in the number of tutors, as well as mentores, which contributes to reducing the rate of failure and lag.

Among the academic activities that stood out are the Medical Conferences and the Medical Congress, which was part of the 55th anniversary of what is now the Academic Unit of Human Medicine.

Currently, there are 64 collaboration agreements, reported the director, with different institutions such as Medical Colleges, Municipal Presidency, COBAEZ, AMANC, among others.

When speaking, after listening to the report, the rector Rubén de Jesús Ibarra Reyes congratulated the director and reiterated his institutional commitment, and highlighted that it is essential that society knows what is done at the university.

The event was attended by the academic secretary, Hans Hiram Pacheco García; the coordinator of the Academic Council of the Health Sciences Area, Juan Armando Flores de la Torre and the academic secretary of the Human Medicine and Health Sciences Unit, Elda Aracely García Moyorga.
