Call of Duty announces a hardening of its Ricochet anti-cheat system

Over 50,000 new cheater accounts were banned in the new ban wave. Activision is also announcing an update that makes cheaters even more powerless in the game.

Deployed in games of the series Call of Duty many months ago, le Ricochet anti-piracy system works wonders within the game, according to Activision, which has often praised the merits of the protection put in place at the end of 2021 and which has experienced a big update in February with his Damage Shieldwhich prevents cheaters from doing critical damage.

This week, the program team reported that a new update was launched for Ricochet on CoD Vanguard et CoD Warzone on PC. Now cheaters will become completely deaf and blind when hacked. A new system d’obfuscation is deployed.

Thanks to Cloaking, players who are detected cheating may find themselves unable to see opposing players in the game world. Characters, balls, and even sounds of legitimate players will be undetectable to cheaters. Legitimate players, however, can see cheaters affected by the cloak (usually it’s the players you see circling around yelling “Who’s shooting me?”) and can deal in-game punishments. Like our technique previously revealed Damage Shield mitigation, this gives legit players a leg up on cheaters.

Additionally, cheating will be penalized in the leaderboards and reflected in the player rankings. In other words: if someone is banned, they will simply disappear from the rankings.

Recently, Activision announced that over 90,000 accounts were shut down in the latest wave of gaming bans. These are now 54,000 more players who have lost access to Call of Duty titles. The studio encourages legitimate players to use the in-game postponement options to keep the fight going.
