For its second broadcast evening, Welcome Back celebrated the year 2000 this Friday, March 25, 2022 in prime time on TF1. After immersing viewers in the year 1993 last Friday, the new game format presented by Camille Combal honored the first year of the new millennium, marked by the success of the game boy, Pokémon, boysbands, or even Yannick’s hit Ces soirées. Once again, the host was surrounded by six celebrities, competing in two separate teams. Thereby, Denis Brogniart, Gérémy Crédeville and influencer Riadh faced Frédérique Bel, Elodie Fontan and Noom Diawara. As last week, the channel had taken care to broadcast the advertisements with the dressing of the time, a detail that is very popular with viewers.

Over the rounds, celebrities covered all the themes of the period: music, sport, politics, culture, media, etc. Among the questions asked: “In the Euro 2000 final, who equalized at the end of the match against Italy?” (Sylvain Wiltord), “Which program premiered on July 3, 2000 on M6?” (the Morning live), “Could we smoke or not on an Air France plane?” (Yes). Throughout the evening on twitter, nostalgia was in order. But Internet users were also numerous to express their joy at sharing a moment in front of a program that was entertaining to them. They were full of praise for the qualities of animator and the humor of Camille Combalas well as on the very rich decor of the show.

Another element convinced them less, without tainting their general satisfaction: the outfit worn by the host. After the mustache and the tie last week, Camille Combal had this evening decided to wear a striped blazer jacket, chain pants or even a beige beret. What inspire comparisons to twittos: Tribal King or the singer Moos, interpreter of the title In the name of the rose. As clarified by Camille Combal himself, it is actually up to Billy Crawford, one of the r’n’b stars of the 2000s, that the disguise referred to. Something to amuse some viewers, who found that the reference was not necessarily obvious.

The most grumpy Internet users also deplored the presence among the guests of an influencer they did not know. If Riadh is famous thanks to his videos posted on social networks, he is indeed not often present on television. And his young age (23 years old) made his presence in a program devoted to the year 2000 a little incoherent in their eyes…
