For years, the big city has lacked the specialty store – now it is coming

Bispetorv became famous beyond Hjørring’s borders when Ane Cortzen recently exposed urban planning – or the lack of it – when she asked in the program of the same name if there was an architect present.

Granted, there probably wasn’t.

On the other hand, a cheese man is soon present.

After several years of absence, the people of Hjørring can once again turn their noses up for a physical cheese shop.

Most recently there was a cheese shop in Nørregade, but now one of its kind is opening right next to Føtex on Bispetorv – in the premises that most recently housed the bankrupt gourmet bakery “Først til Mølle”.

Jan Brandhøj, Hjørring, reveals this in a Facebook post.

– Good news for all cheese lovers, connoisseurs and other good people in the vicarage and surroundings, says Hjørring’s future cheesemonger, who says that the shop will be called Vendia Ost.

He states that he will open the doors in mid-June.

Not a small selection

This means that the people of North Jutland will have another specialist store with cheeses.

Already, there is not a small selection for cheese lovers in North Jutland, as one can mention, for example, Ostemanden in Hirtshals, Osteklokken in Brønderslev, Risskov Ost in Aalborg, OsteFruen in Sæby, Delikat in Frederikshavn as well as Skagen Ost and the Ostemanden from Vindblæs – the in the two latter places, you also drive out with the cheese truck to different places in North Jutland.

Jan Brandhøj has a past with Skagen Ostehus, who by the way regularly frequents Bispetorv, when you stay at Føtex.

According to Nordsøposten, Skagen Ostehus will continue to park at the department store every now and then, even though a new cheese shop will soon open its doors in the immediate vicinity.
