Camille O’Sullivan has shared a sharp comeback after her partner, actor Aidan Gillen, jokingly requested she “talk less.” The Cork-born singer made the revelation during an interview on LyricFM’s ‘Marty in the Morning’.
While discussing her long-term relationship with Gillen, O’Sullivan recounted a conversation from early in their 13-year partnership. I was saying to you that I said to Aidan, ‘What do you want in a relationship?’ And he said, ‘For you to talk less.’ So I was laughing going: ‘Did you not read the label? I’m from Cork.’
She added, Don’t let Aidan hear that!
after receiving praise from a listener who called her shows very funny
and said they bring them to another world.
Cork Roots and a Witty Retort
Born in London but raised in Passage West, the singer has previously cited growing up in the Rebel County as one of her strongest influences
. Her response to Gillen’s jest plays on her reputation for being a talkative native of the county.
A Life in Dublin
The couple, who have been together for over 13 years, share a stylish Georgian home in Dublin which they purchased in 2022 and later renovated. O’Sullivan described their living arrangements, noting they have separate spaces in the house, including rooms for art and music, as well as three bars, one of which is hidden behind a door. The property also features unique elements, such as a kitchen with concealable appliances and a hidden room for their family cat. O’Sullivan also has a Springer spaniel who spends most of its time following her around the house. The home includes a basement living area with granite stairs uncovered during the renovation.
Promoting a New Show
O’Sullivan made the comments while promoting her new show, ‘The Art of Falling Apart’, which is scheduled for the Olympia Theatre on 21st November. The performance, which she described as intimate, heartfelt
, celebrates late artists like Shane MacGowan and Sinead O’Connor. O’Sullivan also gave a sneak peek of the show, revealing it will feature elements like roller skating and a hula hoop, with a live band that never know what’s gonna happen.
She explained, Basically I’m living it in real time ladies and gentlemen. I’ve been looking online, ‘Can I learn how to roller skate to go on stage’, there will be a hula hoop. There’s 20 voices in my head and I just want to bring them on stage.
