Campina Grande Airport, Presidente João Suassuna, celebrated 59 years of operations on October 30, 2022. Located in the wild of Paraíba, just six kilometers from the city center, the terminal operates daily with regional and national flights.

Currently, the airport has Gol and Azul flights, which connect the airport to the cities of Salvador (BA), São Paulo – Guarulhos (SP) and Recife (PE).

The airport site occupies an area of 821,000 m², with a runway of 1,600 meters in length. The new passenger terminal, built in 2003, has snack bars, tourism agencies and car rental services, in addition to offering users a car park with 200 spaces.

Created by Law nº 3.795 of 1960, the airport was inaugurated in 1963, becoming part of the Infraero Network in 1980. Its name is a tribute to the former governor of Paraíba, João Suassuna.

The airport is managed by Aena Brasil, since January 16, 2020, winner in the bidding round for airports, northeast block, which took place on March 15, 2019.

To facilitate the progress of the structural works promoted by Aena Brasil, which will allow the expansion of operational capacity, Campina Grande Airport will have a new temporary boarding area. From last Saturday, January 14, 2023, until April, users who are going to board will have to follow a new internal flow in the passenger terminal and will be directed to the temporary space.

The new boarding area is located inside the hall of Presidente João Suassuna Airport, in the old arrivals area, which has already been renovated. The change will allow the current departure lounge of the terminal to be temporarily closed, in order to continue the expansion and adaptation works, also promoting the alignment of operational flows in accordance with the new aircraft patio.

The temporary boarding area will also have all the necessary components to provide a safe and comfortable trip for passengers at Campina Grande Airport. The space offers users new bathrooms, air conditioning and a fire fighting system.

The works at Campina Grande Airport will bring more comfort, safety and a better experience for passengers. At the end of the renovation, scheduled for the end of the first half of 2023, the terminal will have its operational capacity increased by 100%, transforming the infrastructure and services offered, such as a greater number of stores and food services.
