The Canadian government is going to provide Ukraine with a loan of 2.4 billion Canadian dollars ($1.78 billion). The money will be provided through the International Monetary Fund (IMF), follows from the draft federal budget for the next fiscal year (starts April 1 – «U»). The funds will be used to provide basic services for the citizens of Ukraine, the document says. Canada also plans to transfer 115 million Canadian dollars (about $84.5 million) in gratuitous financial assistance to Ukraine for the repair of Kyiv’s energy infrastructure. In addition, Canada will provide 200 million Canadian dollars ($147 million) in military assistance, including the transfer of eight Leopard 2 battle tanks.
Last week, Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand announced that Canada had transferred Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.
