The Montreal Canadiens placed the name of Jonathan Drouin on the long-term injured list (LTIR), which opens the door to the return of Carey Price within the training. With Drouin’s name on the roster, the CH now has $14,015,563, while Price’s salary is $10,500,000.
Drouin underwent wrist surgery on April 8. His season is over, but he should be back healthy before the start of the Habs’ next training camp.
Price, who hasn’t played a game this season, was on the team’s trip to New Jersey earlier in April.
After participating in a few practices with the rest of the group in March, Price had to put his rehabilitation on hold due to a virus unrelated to COVID-19. He had resumed training alone at the Bell Sports Complex, while the Canadian was playing abroad.
The 34-year-old goaltender had knee surgery on July 23, then was sidelined for 30 days this fall to deal with a substance abuse problem through the NHL’s assistance program and the NHL Players Association.
His fitness routine was then disrupted due to COVID-19, and then more recently to another virus.
The Canadiens also lost goaltender Jake Allen last Saturday in a loss to the Leafs. The veteran’s season is over. To make up for the loss of Allen, Montreal recalled goaltender Cayden Primeau from the Laval Rocket.
