The UAE Public Prosecution has warned that anyone fleeing the scene of a car accident, whether injured or not, will be fined at least Dh20,000. He will be punished if he leaves the place of occurrence without any reason, whether or not he caused the accident.
Fines are set out in Article 49, Clause 5 of Federal Law No. 21 of 1995 on Traffic. Motorists involved in any type of collision are also advised to wait at the scene to complete all formalities with the concerned traffic authorities.
