Malappuram: Car driver arrested in case of death of scooter rider in Kuttipuram. Pattambi Karakkad Kunnamkulathingal Basheer was arrested by the police.
A case has been registered against him on charges of involuntary manslaughter and dangerous driving. The initial indication of the investigation is that he fell asleep as the cause of the accident. The police said that investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Abdul Khader, a resident of Karingappara, Puttanathani, died when the car driven by Basheer collided with the scooter. Khader’s wife Ruqiya was seriously injured in the accident. They are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kottakal.
The accident took place at Manchadi on the Kuttipuram-Tirur road around 4.30 pm on Saturday. Abdul Qader and his wife, who were traveling on a scooter, were hit by an Innova car that had lost its direction from the opposite side. Later, the scooter crashed into a roadside wall. By the time the locals pulled Abdul Qader out from among the stones that had collapsed from the wall, he was already dead.
It was clear from the CCTV footage that the speeding car hit the scooter which was coming slowly along the left side of the maximum road. The footage also showed Rukia jumping up and falling to the top of a nearby shop due to the impact of the thunder. The car that caused the accident came to rest after hitting the scooter and then hitting the wall and flipping upside down. Basheer who was driving the car and his wife sustained minor injuries in the accident.
Abdul Qader and Ruqiya met with an accident while returning home after attending their relative’s wedding in Kuttipuram. Abdul Qader, who was working in Al-Ain, came home a month ago.
