A 39-year-old driver of a limousine was caught driving at 95 km/h in the 30 speed limit near Eisenerz (Leoben district) on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Styria State Police Directorate on Wednesday. The man admitted that he had not noticed his high speed. Driver’s license and car were temporarily revoked.
Since March 1, 2024, in the event of significant speeding violations, the vehicle can also be temporarily confiscated and subsequently auctioned in accordance with the 34th amendment to the Road Traffic Act. The first case in Austria concerned a car driver who was driving in Vienna-Josefstadt on the night of March 4th.
