Thessaloniki – AUTH: The 49 arrested refuse to give fingerprints – 2024-03-20 03:00:10

The 49 arrested after yesterday’s police raid on the School of Positive Sciences at AUTH, they were taken to the courts on Sunday morning Thessaloniki.

Shortly before 11, the 49 arrested by the police operation inside the AUTH were taken under draconian security measures and through the back door to the Thessaloniki Courthouse. According to thestoday.gr, some of those arrested were shouting slogans, such as “long live the squatters” etc.

The public prosecutor prosecuted 48 of the 49 for infidelity, as they refused to provide fingerprints, for seriously disrupting the orderly operation of a public service.

For the charge of weapons and flares included in the case file, a separate investigation is being conducted against unknown persons and a relevant case file has been filed.

The individuals were referred to be tried at the Autoforo Three-member Misdemeanor Court of Thessaloniki and remain in custody until Clean Monday when the court will be held. There are 31 men and 18 women.

A case file was filed against all 49 arrested for disrupting the operation of a service, damaging foreign property, violating the law on weapons and flares.

Solidarity gathered outside the Courthouse protesting the police invasion of the university and the arrest of 49 people.

Kpoles were found during the raid by the Greek Police, cutting wheels, gas masks, hoods, gloves, torches, sledgehammers.

Specifically, according to the ELAS announcement, during the raid the following were found and confiscated:

  • 22 wooden poles, to the ends of which pieces of cloth were attached,
  • 12 anti-suffocation masks,
  • 11 fire extinguishers, containing paint,
  • 4 pyrotechnic constructions (naval torch type),
  • 1 iron metal cutter,
  • 2 metal cutting wheels,
  • 2 cutting discs,
  • 1 metal wheel wrench,
  • 1 sledgehammer,
  • 6 bike helmets,
  • 2 activated police hand grenades (flash and tear gas),
  • 1 laptop computer,
  • clothing items (gloves, balaclavas) and
  • multitude of door locks and chains;
