Cardinal Jorge Urosa Savino died on the followingnoon of this Thursday, September 23, the Archdiocese of Caracas reported in an announcement.
The priest had been hospitalized for a number of weeks following being contaminated with COVID-19, which required him to enter the Intensive Care Unit of a clinic within the capital metropolis.
After false rumors regarding his dying, the Episcopal Convention of Venezuela issued every day statements updating his state of well being, along with requesting the Catholic devoted to accompany him in prayer for his restoration.
WHO WAS JORGE UROSA SAVINO?
His Eminence Jorge Liberato Urosa Savino, was born in Caracas; on August 28, 1942 and was ordained a priest on August 15, 1967.
Previous to his cardinalship; The priest was elected Titular Bishop of Vegesela di Bizacena and appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Caracas on July 6, 1982.
In 1990, he was named Archbishop of Valencia and later moved to Caracas to imagine the archbishopric in 2005. When he turned 75, he introduced his resignation in line with the measures of Canon Regulation.
