Carolina extends winning streak to four with a big win in New York

Goalie Pyotr Kochetkov made 28 saves on 29 shots and the Carolina Hurricanes continued their winning ways with a 6-1 win against the New York Rangers on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.
The victory gave the team four wins in a row and gives them a 7-1-3 record in their last 11 games.
Andrei Svechnikov scored two goals, giving him five straight multi-point games.
Special teams remained hot as the powerplay went 2-4 and the penalty kill did not allow a goal on three attempts.
Jack Drury opened the scoring with a powerplay shot just 1:49 into the game. Stefan Noesen had the assist as these two continue to feed off each other.
With 31 seconds left in the period, Svechnikov scored his first of the game with a one-timer off a perfect Sebastian Aho pass.
At 4:30 into the second, Chris Kreider tipped in a shot to beat Kochetkov but two minutes later the Hurricanes quickly increased their lead to two goals again when Jordan Staal scooped up a loose puck and fed Jordan Martinook who made no mistake with his tally right in front of the New York net.
Jalen Chatfield put one in early in the third, followed by Svechnikov’s second goal when he cut across the middle for a score.
Later in the game, Brendan Lemieux fed Michael Bunting and Bunting made a nice move to make the score 6-1 Carolina.
Next up for the Hurricanes will be the Capitals in Washington on Friday night.
Game Notes:
- The Canes were outshot 29-27 but did a nice job of limiting grade A chances against.
- Faceoffs were about even as Carolina had a 51% to 49% advantage.
- Brett Pesce led the way with three blocked shots.
- Slavin had a team high 21:31 of ice time.
