Palakkad: HRDS Secretary Aji Krishnan has been arrested by the police. He was arrested on complaints of encroachment on tribal land, calling him caste names and burning tribal houses. A year ago the complaint was filed by a native of Sholayur. A case was registered but no further action was taken. Aji Krishnan, who was abroad, was arrested following he reached the country.
HRDS is a controversial organization for providing employment to Swapna Suresh, an accused in the gold smuggling case. The HRDS officials had come forward alleging that the police were hunting following giving the job and the Chief Minister was paying revenge. Then Swapna was dismissed from the job.
