Central KPI Bans Domestic Violence Actors from Appearing on TV and Radio, Is Rizky Billar’s Career Threatened?

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Central Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) opened its voice to respond to cases of alleged domestic violence (domestic violence) which is done by Rizky Billar.

The KPI has firmly stated that there is no place for perpetrators of domestic violence on Indonesian television and radio.

“KPI asks all broadcasters not to make domestic violence actors as performers or performers in all broadcast programs, both on television and radio,” that’s the explanation in @kpicenter’s upload, quoted on Friday (30/9/2022).

Commissioner Central KPI Nuning Rodya emphasized that public figures should be role models for the audience.

For KPI, domestic violence is a violation of human rights.

“Central KPI commissioner, Nuning Rodyah, said that public figures must set a positive example for viewers, both through what appears on the screen and examples in everyday life,” write the account.

“All forms of violence, especially domestic violence, are violations of human rights,” Nuning said as quoted in the upload.

The KPI statement was issued in response to the hectic news about the alleged domestic violence committed by Rizky Billar against his wife. Lesti Kejora.

Lesti has reported the case to the South Jakarta Metro Police, Wednesday (28/9/2022).

Lesti’s report is registered with the number LP/B/2348/IX/2022/POLRES METRO JAKARTA SELATAN/POLDA METRO JAYA.

For his actions, Billar was temporarily charged with Article 44 of Law No. 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence (UU PKDRT).
