Cervicitis .. between causes and symptoms

Cervicitis is a common health problem that many women face. It is an infection of the cervix, which causes many symptoms.

Severe infections are usually caused by infection transmitted from the husband. Transmissible diseases that may cause cervicitis include: Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Genital herpes, Trichomoniasis, Mycoplasma.

Other causes of inflammation may include:

1 – Allergy to chemicals in spermicides, sterile showerheads, or latex in the protective device.

2- Irritation or injury from tampons, tampons, or birth control devices such as diaphragms.

3- Bacterial imbalance, where unhealthy or harmful bacteria overwhelm healthy bacteria.

4- Hormonal imbalance. Relatively low estrogen or high progesterone may hinder the body’s ability to maintain healthy cervical tissue.

5- Cancer or cancer treatment.

Cervicitis is accompanied by a set of symptoms, including:

• Pale yellow or gray discharge.
• Abnormal bleeding, such as bleeding after intercourse or between menstrual periods.
• Pain during the marital relationship.
• Difficult, painful or frequent urination.
• Pelvic or abdominal pain or fever.
