Champions League; Bayern kill at the Etihad, Manchester City wins the first leg

Manchester: Manchester City won the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich. Premier League giants Manchester City won by three unanswered goals. Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland scored goals for City. The match took place at 12.30 PM IST at City’s home ground, the Etihad Stadium.

City’s first goal was scored in the 27th minute of the first half. Spanish defensive midfielder Rodry shot from outside the box after receiving a pass from Bernardo Silva. Bayern goalkeeper Yann Sommer made a full dive but couldn’t keep the ball out as it curled and hit the far post. Despite taking the lead, City did not slow down their attacks. Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan’s volley in the 34th minute was incredibly saved by Sommer.

But at the beginning of the second half, Bayern started trying to find an answer goal. Former Manchester City star winger Leroy Sane’s shot was saved by City goalkeeper Ederson. Bayern defender De Litte’s header in the 55th minute also missed the target. City hit Bayern for the second time in the 70th minute. This time it’s a great header from Silva. City were on target for a third time six minutes later. Bayern won the first quarter with superstar Erling Haaland scoring an assist from center back John Stones.
