Champions League final removed from Russia; Russia says decision abusive

The UEFA Champions League final has been postponed to Russia. The final will be held on May 28 in France. The move comes in protest of Russia’s occupation of Ukraine. The match was scheduled to take place in St. Petersburg. The European Football Association (IFA) has said it will change the venue for the final due to security concerns. Russia, however, said the decision to shift the venue from St. Petersburg was “disgraceful”.

In addition, UEFA has stated that the home matches of teams competing in the Champions League from Ukraine and Russia will be played in a neutral venue. This is the third year in a row that the venue for the UEFA Champions League final has been moved from its original location.
