The women’s FC Zurich advances to the group stage of the Champions League, which has 16 teams. After a dry 7-0 in the first leg, the Swiss champions won the return once morest SFK 2000 Sarajevo 3-0 in the last qualifying round.
Zurich’s goals were scored by Seraina Piubel twice before the break and by substitute Alayah Pilgrim. The game took place in Schaffhausen due to the laying of the new lawn at Letzigrund.
Wälti, Maritz and Bachmann qualified
Qualification for the group stage which begins on October 19 and 20 guarantees the Zurich women a starting bonus of 400,000 euros. The draw for the four groups of four teams will take place next Monday in Nyon.
National team players Lia Wälti and Noëlle Maritz (with Arsenal) as well as Ramona Bachmann (with PSG) also managed to qualify for the group stage of the only European Cup competition in women’s football.
