Chance of heavy rain with thunder in the next three hours

Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rains and winds are expected in the state today. Strong winds and thundershowers at Malappuram. Many trees were uprooted by the strong winds. Thrissur district also received heavy rainfall in the afternoon.

The Met Office has warned of heavy rains and strong winds today. Yellow alerts have been issued in nine districts. The yellow alert was issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur and Malappuram districts.

The Central Meteorological Department has forecast strong winds of up to 40 kmph.

Lightning is also expected from 2 pm to 10 pm. Therefore, the authorities advised the people to be vigilant. The Central Meteorological Department has said that there is no impediment to fishing off the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep.
