After reaching the mountain in Puerto de la Cruz de Linares, there was an altercation between the police and a nurse from the team of overall leader Sepp Kuss and Tour winner Jonas Vingegaard.

In videos shared on the platform The police then took the man away on Thursday. A similar incident had already occurred at the end of the eleventh stage. A nurse from the Cofidis team was rudely overpowered by a police officer while he was cheering on his rider Jesus Herrada, who was about to win the stage. The nurse was ultimately let in to Herrada as soon as he crossed the finish line.

The Vuelta caused a stir outside of sport in several cases this year. In the opening time trial, the last teams had to start in the dark on wet roads, which led to crashes. After his victory on the third stage, star cyclist Remco Evenepoel collided with a woman behind the finish line and suffered a laceration to his head.

On the same stage, the police prevented an act of sabotage when four men tried to dump around 400 liters of oil onto the road. On the seventh stage, police arrested a man who had tried to cause “an accident in the final stage”.
