A manhunt is underway following the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on Thursday. Law Enforcement Officials are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest connected to this incident.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is offering a reward of $100,000 for information contributing to the identification and apprehension of those responsible. According to reports, authorities were able to trace the suspect’s movements, starting at 11:52 a.m. upon arrival at the campus.

The shooting occurred around 12:20 p.m., after which the suspect fled the scene. A high-powered,bolt-action rifle,believed to be the weapon used in the attack,was recovered in a wooded area nearby. Investigators are currently reviewing security footage and canvassing the surrounding neighborhood for additional witnesses or camera recordings.

Campus Closure and Ongoing Investigation

Utah Valley University has announced that its campus will remain closed until Sunday. The Commissioner of Public Safety, Beau Mason, confirmed that law enforcement is working to return Kirk’s remains to his family following examination by the state medical examiner.

President Trump has announced plans to posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, acknowledging his enduring legacy.

Two individuals previously considered persons of interest were released after authorities resolute they were not involved in the shooting. Authorities have appealed to the public to refrain from harassing these individuals.

“Any attack on the first Amendment is an attack on the very foundation of our democracy,” stated Robert Bohls, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s salt Lake City field office. “That is why we will relentlessly pursue this case and the shooter until we find him.”
