The Empire Shirt company purchased a triplex to accommodate outside employees. This is an additional argument to give to the workforce so that they agree to come and work for them.
For the moment, two people have arrived directly from Tunisia: Mohamed and Hiba. Both candidates have several years of experience in the textile field and are already very independent, even in less than a week.
They live together in the building purchased especially for them by their employer.
“The workers had their documents ready since February, but we couldn’t find accommodation even though we bought a building. We are in the process of renovating them to accommodate other people,” explained the director of human resources and head of manufacturing operations at Chemise Empire, Solange Fournier.
Furniture, household appliances, toiletry bag… Everything was in place so that the workers could settle in easily.
“For a company to do all this for employees it doesn’t know is rare,” Hiba was surprised. For the moment, there is only one accommodation that is ready to accommodate the workers. The other two are under renovation. In total, they will ultimately be able to accommodate eight people or eight couples.
“I will welcome my family here. My wife and my two children. She is going to work for the same company, at Chemise Empire,” said Mohamed, smiling.
This building will act as a springboard for future workers who want to move to Louiseville. Hiba, for example, has already found alternative accommodation for herself and her family.
“We try to attract people to the regions, so it is certain that for us it can be an opportunity to say that we have space for them while they settle properly in the region. », added Ms. Fournier.
Five other Tunisian women are due to set off for Quebec in the coming weeks. With these accommodations, it will be easier to add employees to the company and they will quickly feel at home.
