Cher announces the death of her mother, actress and singer Georgia Holt

Georgia Holt, singer, actress and mother of the musician Cher, died at the age of 96. It was his daughter who confirmed the information on Twitter. Georgia Holt had been hospitalized for pneumonia last September, but the reasons for her death were not specified.

“Mom is gone,” Cher soberly tweeted on Saturday.

The 76-year-old singer subsequently received many messages of support from fans and personalities including Hillary Clinton. Cher’s spokeswoman, Liz Rosenberg, also confirmed the news to the Washington Post sunday.
