Chibia needs a thousand teachers to respond to the needs of the education sector – news

The municipality of Chibia, located 45 kilometers south of Lubango, capital of the province of Huíla, needs at least 1000 teachers to respond to the needs of the education sector and reduce the number of school-age children outside the education system. The information was recently provided by the 1st Municipal Secretary of the MPLA, Sérgio da Cunha Velho, during the visit that the Vice-President of the comrades carried out in that part of the province of Huíla, to verify the level of organization of the party.

According to the person responsible, in the municipality of Chibia, one of the problems that most worries the local administration is the lack of human resources, particularly for the Education and Health sectors, to respond to the needs of the more than 250 thousand inhabitants.

The Education sector controls around 977 teachers, which in Sérgio Velho’s opinion is a negligible number, taking into account the needs of the sector in the municipality of Chibia, which has a total of 10 primary schools, recently built, which are still being developed. struggle with the lack of teachers. The lack of teachers means that more than 7 thousand school-age children are outside the normal education system throughout the municipality of Chibia.

“The most prominent problems are human resources, since we have a deficit in the education sector, especially in primary education. We still have children outside the school system in the municipality of Chibia, a total of 7711 children. It is a worrying number, taking into account the objectives set by the party in the chapter on human development,” he said.

The education network in the municipality of Chibia is made up of 109 schools that serve the three levels of education, 55 of which are permanently built and 54 are precariously built. According to Sérgio Velho, the Local Development and Combating Poverty Program has been reducing the number of schools with precarious constructions, with the rehabilitation of some classrooms.
