Chile faces Peru with the mission to dominate the Davis Cup series

The Chilean team Davis cup faces this Saturday, from 5:00 p.m. (20:00 GMT) to Peru in World Group I of the Davis Cup, with the illusion of maintain the hegemony of the last half and achieve the pass to the 2023 Qualifiers.

The key will be at the Lawn Tennis Club of the Expo in Lima, and It will be the ninth time that both countries face each other, the first since 2015 and with a positive record for Chile of 6-2.

Nicolás Massú’s charges hope to continue the streak of the last three consecutive 5-0 wins, achieved in 1996, 2004 and 2015.

The series will be opened this Saturday by Chile’s number one racket, Alejandro Tabilo (69th in the ATP) who will face the second singles player from Peru, Nicholas Alvarez (295°).

If Tabilo wins, the biggest pressure will be on the second singles player from Chile in the next turn, Nicholas Jarry (111°), who will face the great courage of the Peruvians, John Paul Varillas (100°).

The big absentee in the event is Cristian Garin (83rd), who dropped out due to a wrist injury.

Massú’s objective is to win both matches this Saturday, in order to close the Chilean triumph with the doubles match on Sunday.
