Chile reports almost 8,000 new cases of covid-19 for the third day in a row and active cases exceed 30,000 | National

With 7,874 new cases, the total number of active cases jumped to 31,341, the highest in 61 days (March 28 – 33,179).

This Saturday morning, the Ministry of Health (Minsal) reported the detection of 7,874 new cases of covid-19 in Chile.

4,387 correspond to symptomatic people, 1,354 to asymptomatic and 2,133 Positive PCR test that were not notified.

This is the third consecutive day with figures close to 8 thousand infections.

With the result, the total patients in the active stage of the disease went from 28,502 to 31,341, the highest in 61 days from 33,179 on March 28.

According to Minsal estimates, the variation in new cases of covid-19 was 28% in one week and 95% in 14 days.

Only two regions have decreased their cases in the last seven days and one has done so in the last two weeks, they indicated.

“Of the 7,874 new cases, 34% are diagnosed by antigen test, 46% originate from Active Case Search (BAC) and 24% of those notified are asymptomatic”, detailed from the portfolio through a statement.

Regarding the incidence rate, Chile shows 158.1 active cases per 100,000 inhabitants, which in the MR reaches 215.6.

Positivity, ICU and deaths

Meanwhile, the national positivity of the PCR was set at 11.69% but only with the analysis of 44,666 samples.

Today three regions exceed 10%: the Metropolitan (15.67%), O’Higgins (14.77%) and Valparaíso (14.49%).

On the other hand the The Government reciphered the number of people in the ICU for covid-19 again at 125historical minimum since there are records thanks to the scope of vaccination, 82 of them on mechanical ventilation.

With all the hospital occupancy of the system integrated by the pandemic is 84.46% with 2,015 critical beds enabled and 313 free.

Finally, the Department of Statistics and Health Information (DEIS) added 10 kills to the national list, bringing the total number of deaths associated with the pandemic to 57,877.
