Chile surpasses the barrier of 7 thousand daily cases and Tarapacá maintains a high incidence rate | National

A significant rise in covid-19 infections reported this Thursday on Ministry of Health, surpassing the barrier of 7 thousand cases. The regions with the highest positivity are Tarapacá, Arica and Parinacota, Magallanes and Antofagasta.

The Ministry of Health reported 7,291 new cases of covid-19, with a positivity of 6.90% in the last 24 hours nationwide.

This is a figure that had not been recorded since June last year, when 7,972 cases were reached.

The area with the highest increase is the Tarapacá region, with a rate of 1,084.0 active cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

As indicated, the variation of new confirmed cases at the national level is 154% and 158% for the comparison of seven and 14 days, respectively.

Of the 7,291 new cases, 19% are diagnosed by antigen test, 50% originate by Active Case Search (BAC) and 26% of those notified are asymptomatic.

32 thousand active cases

According to the report of this day, of the 7 thousand new cases, 3,325 correspond to symptomatic people and 1,188 do not present symptoms.

Likewise, 2,778 Positive PCR tests were reported that were not reported.

The total number of people who have been diagnosed with the disease in the country reached 1,849,465. Of that total, 32,483 patients are in the active stage.

While the recovered cases are 1,771,647.

Regarding deaths, according to the information provided by the DEIS, in the last 24 hours there were 41 deceased for causes associated with the pandemic. Thus, the total number rises to 39,331 deaths in the country.

To date, 444 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 366 are on mechanical ventilation support. However, it was indicated that in the Integrated Health Network, there is a total of 254 critical beds available.

With regard to the Health Residences, there are 47 accommodation facilities, with 4,374 total beds. The real occupancy nationwide is 83%, leaving a total of 540 beds available to be used.

Tarapacá maintains a high incidence rate

Health authorities reported daily positivity in the Metropolitan region of 7.39% and no region registers a positivity equal to or less than 2%.

However, according to sampling, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are Tarapacá, Arica and Parinacota, Magallanes and Antofagasta.

Of all the latter, Tarapacá has the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by the regions of Arica and Parinacota, Magallanes and Antofagasta.
