This Tuesday, at least three new weather warnings have been incorporated by the Chilean Meteorological Directorate (DMC). Which issues warnings when an atmospheric phenomenon has a moderate degree of severity or is potentially risky.

Specifically, the warning issued last Monday is due to a high temperature event expected for sectors of the Tarapacá, Antofagasta and Atacama regions, which will occur throughout this week.

In this way, the sectors affected by a high ridge that is increasing temperatures will be those of the Tarapacá pampa, the salt flats of Antofagasta and the foothills of the Atacama Region.

On the other hand, the update of the agency’s warning indicated the probability of occurrence of electrical storms in the foothills and mountain ranges of the Arica and Parinacota regions, as well as in the Tarapacá Region.

The atmospheric electricity, which will spread through the Antofagasta mountain range, is also associated with the presence of the ridge at altitude. The validity of this notice will extend until Sunday, January 21 in the areas just mentioned.

Meanwhile, according to the authorities, the alerts for high temperatures will be valid until the afternoon of next Friday, January 19.
