China has issued new guidelines that limit the use of generative AI while encouraging industrial development.

Reports indicated that the guidelines would only affect organizations that provide generative AI services to the public. Companies that develop the same technology without making it available for public use do not apply to the measures.
The guidelines state that generative AI services must “comply with the core values of socialism” and not attempt to overthrow state power or the socialist system, while the new rules removed potential fines of up to 100,000 yuan ($13,999) for violations, according to “.CNN“.
