According to China Central Television (CCTV), a magnitude 6.8 earthquake occurred in Luding County, Gantzjiang Autonomous Prefecture on the 5th, killing 82 people and missing 35 people as of 8 am (local time) on the 8th. About 270 people were injured, four of them said to be life-threatening.
Rescue authorities dispatched more than 6,600 rescue workers to the scene and evacuated 11,200 people to a safe place. It is said that all 232 people who were isolated in Hailugou Glacier Forest Park because the only road connected to the outside was cut off due to a landslide were rescued and moved to a safe area.
