The Chinese will be able to walk drone taxi across cities soon. As reported by the portal The Vergethe Civil Aviation Administration of China granted certification for passenger tests to begin on the last day October 13.

In this case, the tests can be carried out with the technology developed by the company EHang Holdings. The vehicle, in turn, is called EH216-S and according to the decision of the country’s authorities, it “fully complies with safety standards and airworthiness requirements.”

Throughout the validation process, components, equipment and the entire aircraft were evaluated. The objective was to find faults, interferences and prefabricated defects throughout the laboratory experiments and flight tests, which had a total of 40 thousand achievements.

The drone taxi, in turn, looks like smaller models and can be controlled remotely. It is powered by batteries and is capable of carrying a maximum of two people. The aircraft can fly for 25 minutes at a speed of 100 km/h. The cost of the trips has not yet been revealed.

With the certification obtained, EHang is authorized to take passengers on air tours offered through local partnerships, located in the provinces of Xinjiang and Shenzen. The first test trips are expected to begin in the coming weeks.
