On October 2, regional and municipal elections will be held throughout the country to elect the new authorities for the next 4 years. That is why the National Office of Electoral Projects (ONPE) already has its platform available so that all Peruvian citizens eligible to vote can choose their polling place.

And it is that the ONPE gives each voter the opportunity to choose their polling place so that when they vote, this place is closer to their home.

In this MANAGEMENT note we will indicate the official ONPE link to change and choose the voting location and also how to carry out the entire process.

Since last May 15, the ONPE enabled the link to choose the voting location for the regional and municipal elections on October 2. To complete the entire process, you must go to: https://eligetulocal.onpe.gob.pe/ or doing click here.

Choose your polling place, step by step

It is important that each citizen of legal age considered within the electoral roll, choose their closest polling place to their home, this, as long as they have not changed their address on the DNI until after October 2, 2021.

In this note we will leave all the steps you must follow to choose your polling place for the 2022 elections:

  • The citizen must enter the Choose your polling place platform and click Start. Then you must enter your DNI number, the DNI verification digit and specify the day, month and year of birth.
  • The Terms and Conditions of Use must be read and accepted to continue. Immediately, you must opt ​​for some identity validation alternative. If personal questions are chosen, these must be answered correctly, before pressing the Continue button.
  • Then you must enter the email and do it a second time to confirm the data. Next, you must enter your cell phone number and inform if you have any disability, which will allow you to receive preferential attention at the polling place. Then select the Continue button.
  • The citizen will receive an email that must be confirmed to verify the registration. Then press the Confirm email address button, after which you must press the Choose your polling place button. Then, by pressing the button, the selection will begin. The voter is recommended to choose the preferred polling places within their district and do so in the order of their preference. Press the Save button and then the Yes button to continue. It is necessary to press the Yes button to save the chosen polling places. It should be specified that the order of priority of the polling places can be modified and even some can be changed. At the end, the chosen polling places will be received by mail.

It is important that each person choose their polling place as it will facilitate the assignment of polling places close to the voters’ homes.

How to choose my polling place

  • Via web version for PC or laptop: go to the link eligetulocal.onpe.gob.pe and before choosing your polling place you must validate your identity by answering “personal questions” such as the name of your mother or the number of your voting group. Once these data have been validated, the user will have access to a map of their place of residence, in which they must select the three voting centers of their choice, in order of priority.
  • Via mobile web version: go to the link eligetulocal.onpe.gob.pe and before choosing your polling place, you must validate your identity by answering “personal questions” or by “facial recognition” with the camera of your mid-range cell phone onwards.
  • Via Telegram: You can also choose the voting location through a Telegram chatbot: @etlvbot (http://t.me/etlvbot).

Until when can I choose my polling place?

In recent electoral processes, ONPE has made this application available to citizens. For the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections, it has been updated and will be available from 12:00 a.m. on May 15 until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022.
