The A Corps dance festival starts this Friday in Poitiers. Among the shows on the program, 440 Hz – Part 1 is the very first creation of the Poitevine Claire Lavernhe, conceived as a dialogue with the conductor Jean-Louis Tingaud.

Beaulieu has become his “garden”. Claire Lavernhe has been frequenting the Poitevin entertainment center for several years. But Tuesday, April 4 will be a special date for the dancer: she will present her first creation, called 440 Hz.

– Part 1. A project initiated in 2020, in the midst of a pandemic, with conductor Jean-Luc Tingaud.

Facing the audience seated in the place of the musicians, the two artists play their score -in gestures- and gradually discover a common tempo. On music from the repertoire, from Mahler to Ravel, crushed by the accomplice brother Thomas Lavernhe. “I was very interested in conducting and I found that there was something choreographic, very beautiful in the gesture of the conductor, presents Claire, who started dancing with the Cie Pois Chiche, in Saint – Benedict. A friend introduced us, Jean-Louis and I were curious to learn about each other’s universe. We thought of this piece as a dialogue around our practices, to see how the music emerged from our movements. »

This abstract language, of the bodies with the music, is worth to the show to be found in the programming of the dance festival A Corps, which opens Friday. His one and only date to date. “We took a long time to build it, with few resources, and it is difficult to reconcile our agendas, agrees Claire Lavernhe, who created her own dance company, Amphibie, in Poitiers. A Corps allows us to present it to professionals in particular and, perhaps, to continue to bring it to life. I, who have known the festival for a long time, am impressed to see how it has grown! »

The choreographer already has “several ideas” for the second part of her diptych, and says she is delighted with her collaboration with Jean-Louis Tingaud.

“This project was a challenge as much for him as for me. Getting out of your comfort zone is bound to be rewarding, I learned. It is also a pretext to be in relation with other artists. Holder of a dance degree from the London Contemporary Dance School, also a yoga teacher, Claire Lavernhe has continued to broaden her artistic horizons in recent years.
