Make way for our top 10 2022 best video games on consoles. You will find, next to the name of each game, its note, as well as the conclusion, published at the time of the publication of the test concerned.

1 : Bayonetta 3 (Nintendo Switch): 99% – Ah, the wait was long but we are rewarded for our patience! Beautiful as you wish, with exceptional fluidity, Bayonetta 3 is still a model of gameplay. He is also, perhaps, the king of beat-them-all, in the matter. Because the often redundant nature of this type of game never manifests itself here. And for good reason, PlatinumGames has been able to create a software of a richness and diversity that no one can boast of. , and gripping action. In addition, the scenario knows how to create surprise regularly, in particular by introducing new characters. Just like the environments, devilishly varied and offering sometimes unexpected sequences (shoot-them up at the controls of a train, 2D-retro painting, etc.). And with its simply perfect gameplay, offering an intuitive handling, an inexhaustible source of pleasure, the Switch title makes a copy, so to speak, perfect. So, for all these reasons, Bayonetta 3 is, in our opinion, best game of the year, on Switch consoles. Even, all consoles combined. And also, one of the five or six must-own titles on the Nintendo console. We did not expect so much and yet, Bayonetta 3 conquers the status of a video game work. A grand, captivating and ultra-paced adventure. In short, you simply have no choice: run and buy it!

2 : The Last of us Part 1 (PS5): 95% – The Last of Us Part I managed to rekindle the flame of passion for a game almost 10 years old. Should we go back to checkout for a remake of such a recent title? Yes, yes and three times yes. If you are a fan of the license, of course, or if you do not know it: you have to dive into it with your eyes closed. Its unique, realistic atmosphere, with the main character an anti-hero who evolves over the course of the adventure, who creates bonds with the young Ellie when he can’t feel her at first… Everything in the game smacks of perfection . The Last of Us was already almost perfect 9 years ago: it is even more delectable today. Moreover, the fact of having rebranded it as Part I means that collectors can only rush over to go with their Part II which sits proudly on their shelf.

3: Gran Turismo 7 (PS5): 92% – The wait was long, the expectations high, but Polyphony Digital responds perfectly with Gran Turismo 7. By offering a developed game, with broad content, lively, artistic, centered on simulation, but also a online mode, hard to see what might displease. However, we regret that the game can be a bit complicated in terms of settings, that certain modes show their limits, and that online racing loses some of its simplicity.

4 : God of War Ragnarok (PS5): 91% – God of War Ragnarök is everything you expected. Epic, moving, magnificent, violent: all the ingredients of the saga are gathered here to make you spend the best of video game moments. Admittedly, on closer inspection, certain faults appear, but they are quickly erased before the mythological scale of this adventure. Not lacking in humor either, it makes wonderful use of the father/son filiation with a real evolution, not only between the two games, but also throughout Ragnarök. With this title you will give your PS5 the exclusivity it deserves since its release. An essential bestseller that you absolutely must do.

5 : Horizon Forbidden West (PS5): 91% – It was expected at the turn, and Guerilla Games did not miss it. He’s a worthy successor to Zero Dawn, even if at times it feels like he’s walking too much in his own footsteps. The playing field offered is gigantic, with a variation of landscapes, climate, the discovery of ruins of the ancient world which are our cities today… By pushing the concept of post-apo further in primitive mode, Forbidden West manages to create a unique vibe. Moreover, if you take the time to read, listen and do everything, you will learn a lot about what led the world to its current state. But also the tensions between the different clans that populate this Wild West that you visit and roam in search of a way to stop Hades again. So yes, there are some bugs that can sometimes get us out of the game. As well as a bit of repetitiveness in the quests and their progress. But ultimately the trip is sumptuous. With breathtaking views. Strategic fights and not obvious at all. Exploration, puzzles, platforming, action. Everything is sprinkled in the right proportions to offer an epic adventure that is hard to put down. A real success for the PS5.

6 : 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim (Nintendo Switch): 89% – 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim is an amazing game. It’s a visual novel with innumerable qualities that unravels the thread of its plot with a mastery rarely seen. By giving you the freedom to do the story or fights in the order you want, it allows you to progress at your own pace to discover how and why 13 high school students find themselves controlling combat mecha against mechanical kaijus . And if the fights do not present any real difficulty, they are there to bring a little variety and involve the player in the unfolding of events. Already almost perfect on PS4, it finds with the Switch its ideal support to be done on both the big and small screen, snug under the duvet while the rain beats on the windows outside. And in addition it is completely in French, what more could you ask for?

7 : GTA V (PS5 and Xbox Series): 88% – Difficult to judge this GTA V. As a game in itself, it is simply excellent. The scenario, the three characters, the size of the map, the activities to do… We were close to perfection 9 years ago and it is still the case today. GTA Online, for its part, has become an ecosystem on its own where you can do virtually anything you want. No, what bothers us the most about this re-release is that… It’s a re-release. The third. And that you have to pay to enjoy it. Admittedly, it is “only” €9.99 now. But after June, you will have to pay €39.99 to be entitled to it. And that’s just a big stop. In addition, Rockstar takes the players a bit for cash cows by releasing a GTA + subscription system to have bonuses and discounts for online play. But why deprive yourself of it, after all, if it works? So the final rating here reflects the quality of the game itself, but we don’t think less about Rockstar Game policy.

8 : Uncharted : Legacy of Thieves Collection (PS5): 85% – The problem with titles like this Uncharted compilation is that you wonder who it is for. If you made the games at the time and you still own them: is it worth adding 10€ to benefit from a 4K option? If you no longer have them, do you have to go back to checkout at full price? We believe that the answer to both questions should be no, unless you are totally in love with the saga. But if you don’t know them and want to experience what a true video game epic is, then you have to dive in head first. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and The Lost Legacy are generous in content, adventure, panoramas, riddles, action… It’s a real treat to browse them in all directions. The Lost Legacy even tries semi-open-world with a central hub and areas to discover in the order you want. We have fun, we have a really good time watching these games, and that’s really the main thing.

9 : Need for Speed Unbound (PS5 and Xbox Series): 86% – Need for Speed Unbound is indeed an outstanding NFS. First of all thanks to its visual effects (these trails behind the vehicle, in the form of tags) and the representation of the characters but also, because of the developers’ approach to challenge and gameplay. -be less accessible than its predecessors, this opus will force players to “work” hard to raise money to improve their cars and buy tickets for the races. While managing their budget, the losses being fraught with consequences. Clearly, we cannot do what we want, when we want. Which also means that it will take patience to discover new vehicles. A repulsive facet for some but which allows us to offer a real challenge with a more subtle management of resources. And this “carrot”, represented by the discovery of new machines… What’s more, the many actions, sub-missions, stunts and elements (clothing, car parts, etc.) to unlock help to lengthen the sauce. Especially since the scenario will also reserve a few twists, which will have their influence on the management of your garage…

Clearly, if you do not expect to get 100 cars in less than ten hours of play and you are ready to really invest in Need for Speed Unbound, then the dose of fun will be up to your patience! Without doubt the best NFS of recent years. And perhaps, also, one of the tiresome months of the series.

10 : Switch Sports (Nintendo Switch): 85% – Whether you are an old-timer or a child, Switch Sports is a success, which can be appreciated by many -obviously- but also, now, alone, as long as you has an internet connection. As you will have understood, online play offers a real plus to this opus dedicated to the Switch. And if the content could have been a bit more substantial, the three new sports are good and offer new pleasures. We also appreciate the improvements made to Bowling, consistent and pleasant. Knowing, too, that Golf will soon be added, free of charge, via an update. at Nintendo Online. We also deplore too high a latency time (in 2022) on certain activities and in particular during services (Tennis and Volleyball). And a Volleyball event, perhaps, not completely finished.

However, Switch Sports remains an excellent title whose investment you should not regret, if you have the possibility of playing it with several people.
